Bringing your child to school by car
This is a reminder for you not to drive your car and park immediately outside the school gates as this endangers the lives of all our children. Not only does it create congestion, making it unsafe for pedestrians and cyclists, and very difficult for pupils to cross the road, it also has an impact on the air quality in our area. The school office regularly receives numerous calls regarding this issue.
Please always park safely, legally and considerately, this means even for a few minutes to drop off your child.
If you really need to drive to school please ‘park and stride’; leave your car a few minutes walk away from school and walk the rest of the journey. As well as keeping the road outside the school safe, it also means your child gets some exercise before arrival at school which we find really does help with concentration, as well as contributing to their daily physical activity.
We take this issue very seriously and will be doing the following:
- Watching the road outside the school at school start time
- Recording number plates of any parents/carers ‘stopping and dropping’ or parking on the yellow zigzags
- Passing this information to the local authority who have been in contact with us about this issue
- Reporting any non-compliant, unpleasant, or aggressive behaviour to the police
We really appreciate your cooperation on this important matter of safety.
