Spelling rule s and es.
When forming a plural we can add the suffix s and es.
A plural means that there is more than one.
Example.... one cat (singular) lots of cats (plural)
Rules
For most words we just add ‘s’ to the end of it to change it into a plural.
Examples
cats
dogs
hats
shoes
bins
cars
If the word ends with one of these sounds…
ch sh ss s x z
then add es.
Example
box - boxes
witch - witches
glass - glasses
church - churches
Apply the words with suffixes into a sentence. Can you think of any more words that have the s or es ending?
