Spelling rule s and es.
When forming a plural we can add the suffix s and es.
A plural means that there is more than one.
Example.... one cat (singular) lots of cats (plural)
For most words we just add ‘s’ to the end of it to change it into a plural.
If the word ends with one of these sounds…
ch sh ss s x z
then add es.
box - boxes
witch - witches
glass - glasses
church - churches
Apply the words with suffixes into a sentence. Can you think of any more words that have the s or es ending?
