4. 82 - 8 =
5. 56 + 6 =
6. 28 - 4 =
7. 77 + 8 =
8. 44 - 9 =
9. 39 + 0 =
10. 91 - 3 =

Now use hundred square to work out the missing numbers.

Missing numbers

1. 12 + _____ = 21
2. ____ + 8 = 33
3. 67 - _____ = 59
4. ____ - 3 = 94
5. 56 + ____ = 65
6. 23 - _____ = 12
7. 49 + ______ = 60
8. _____ + 27 = 39

Here is a blank place value grid. We can use this to add two numbers.

## Here is another example.

Complete these in your books. Draw the numbers in a PV grid if you need to.
1) 31 + 30            5) 42 + 40
2) 16 + 20            6) 51 + 30
3) 24 + 30            7) 19 + 50
4) 55 + 30            8) 12 + 50

Today we are going to use a place value grid to help us subtract.

The image below shows 42-20. That is because there are 4 tens and 2 ones, then 2 tens have been crossed out. Then we count what is left over and find the answer is 22.

Work out the two questions below by copying the place value grid into your book and crossing out the correct number of tens.

Now complete these questions in your book. Draw a place value grid if needed.

1) 49 - 20                      5) 55 - 30                    9) 95 - 50
2) 67 - 30                      6) 81 - 40                   10) 86 - 50
3) 52 - 30                      7) 65 - 40
4) 33  - 20                     8) 72 - 50
