Maths

Fractions and decimals

This week you have five learning tasks to complete, alongside TTRockstars.

*Remember to login to TTRockstars daily!*

If you have forgotten your login details, please ask your parents/carers to send an email to the year 4 email address - so you can get rocking!

Monday - recognise and write decimal equivalents of 1/2, 1/4, 3/4

Watch the video and then complete Monday's activity.

You can use the 'example' picture to help you with your activity.

Your activity asks you to colour in a certain amount of the 100 grid.

If you can draw the 100 square, great! Otherwise, use the Splat Square on the link below to colour the 100 square.

Tuesday - recognise and write decimal equivalents of any number of tenths and hundredths

Watch the video below to learn about hundredths.

Then, complete 'Tuesday - hundredths and tenths activity' in your book - counting on and back in hundredths.

For example, for Challenge 2 1a,

25/100,  26/100,  27/100,  28/100,  29/100,  30/100,  31/100,  32/100,  33/100,  34/100

Extension challenge.

If you've completed the activity, have a go at writing decimal equivalents for these:

For example:

45/100 = 0.45

45/10 = 4.5

4/10 = 0.4

  1. 45/100
  2. 12/100
  3. 57/100
  4. 83/100
  5. 62/10
  6. 27/10
  7. 3/10

Wednesday - recognise and show using diagrams, families of common equivalent fractions

Watch the video and then complete the activity in your book.

Thursday - solve problems involving fractions

Go through the 'how to solve fraction word problems' document to see how to solve a problem involving fractions. Then, complete the activity in your book.

Once you've completed your activity, you can check your answers using the 'answers' document.

Friday - solve problems involving harder fractions

Today's lesson is similar to yesterdays. Go over yesterday's document to recall how to solve fraction word problems.

Then, have a go at completing the word problems in today's activity.

The activities are similar to yesterday's activities, however, you will have to draw your own bars today.

Once you've completed your activity, you can check your answers using the 'answers' document.
