Activity 1:

'Sentence Challenge'

Can you write a sentence containing a relative clause?

E.g. The giraffe, who strode gracefully across the field with his long legs, wore a sad look on his face.

  • It splits the main clause.
  • The clause begins with ‘who’, ‘which’ or ‘with’.
  • It must supply an extra bit of information to the sentence.
  • Commas should surround the relative clause

Activity 2:

'Sick Sentences'

These sentences are ‘sick’ and need help to get better. Can you help? Could you add better verbs, adjectives, adverbs and even a relative clause?

The girl led the giraffe He was brown and yellow He had long legs. They felt sad.
