Enjoy your last week learning from home and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to Nursery on Monday the 8th of March.
This week in Nursery we will be learning about sunflowers, planting our own sunflowers to take home and for our nursery garden. Sunflowers grow quickly, so your child will always have something new to see. In your home learning packs, they are some sunflowers seeds for your child to be directly involved in planting. Click on the story below to watch '' This is a Sunflower''.
Activity - planting sunflower seeds
Before planting the seeds, give your child the opportunity to explore the seeds and notice the patterns on them. Encourage them to mark make (trying to write their name) on a label, giving them support.
Place small stones inside the plant pot, add some compost, select the seeds, bed them in the compost and water them. Place the sunflower seeds in a sheltered, sunny position.
Activity - Drawing a sunflower
Have a go at drawing a beautiful sunflower. Beforehand talk about the colours and the shapes of a sunflower. You could even make a hand craft sunflower (instructions below).
