This week in Nursery we will be continuing to develop our awareness of words that rhyme. Remember rhyming words are words that have the same end sound for example cat/bat.
Watch the video below and have fun dancing and listening to words that rhyme. To join in you need to keep your body moving when the words rhyme. If the words don't rhyme don't forget to FREEZE!!!
Play rhyming bingo together. Print out the sheets below or if you have a rhyming game already use that. Put the rhyming pictures inside a bag and take it in turns to pull one out. Whoever has the word that rhymes on their board collects the picture. The first to complete a rhyming set calls out 'BINGO!'
Sing some nursery rhymes together, see pictures below of some rhymes. As you sing each rhyme together discuss which words rhyme e.g. if you choose 'I'm a little Teapot' talk about how the word 'stout' rhymes with the words 'spout', 'out' and 'shout'.
Guess the next word in a nursery rhyme or rhyming story.
Read rhyming stories with your child or nursery rhymes. Read the rhyme to your child and pause when you get to a rhyming word and allow your child to fill the pause with the word they think comes next.
Play a game of continuing a rhyming string by taking turns to say words that rhyme with each other eg bat, sat, cat. It's a great game!
