Today we are participating in a reading festival. We are focusing on the author Julia Donaldson. Listen to each story below, then fill in the Julia Donaldson map with your favourite parts from each story.

LO: To participate in a discussion about what is read to me, take turns and listen to what others say.
Look at the front cover below. Answer the questions with an adult to create a mind map.
Now listen to the story up until the part where the phone rings.
On each page listen to and respond to how Beegu is feeling. Fill in the listen and respond grid with your ideas and thoughts.

LO: To use and to join sentences together.
Today we are going to create the perfect friend for Beegu. Think about what qualities you look for in a friend and fill in the planning grid below.
Now write about the friend using the conjunction and.
Remember that both parts of the sentence need to make sense.
EG Tim has blue eyes and Tim has dark, brown hair.
Tim enjoys playing football and he also enjoys dancing.

LO: To use the suffix 'ing' within my writing.
What do you notice about these words?
singing

cooking
climbing
playing
crying
eating
They all have the suffix ing.
Today we will be using words with the suffix ing to describe the new friend. Refer back to name of your friend from yesterday.
Examples
He really enjoys climbing up the frame at the park with his friends.
Tim is excellent at singing lots of different songs.
