Careers and Aspirations at Woodside Academy
Subject leader- Miss Weller
At Woodside Academy, we aim to 'inspire future generations'. Our goal is to encourage children to think about their next steps after primary school and beyond. We aim to provide children with opportunities to explore different careers, as well as looking at the qualifications and skills needed to achieve their future aspirations. While children's careers choices may be in the distant future, we believe it is crucial for children to build self-confidence and a love for learning during their time at primary school.

Student feedback:
Financial Literacy Workshop:
Zain PK- I really enjoyed the rock climbing part where I climbed up to 20 metres. I learnt that foods are more expensive depending on what you buy like proteins are dearer than vegetables. I also learnt that a family of four pays over £2000 for bills each month.
Julia- My favourite part was the rock climbing on the tall walls. I learnt that protein is the most expensive food category and you don't need sugar to survive as it's not part of a balanced healthy diet. There are two types of cards a debit card and a credit card which you use to spend things.
Izyaan- I enjoyed the rock climbing the most. I learnt that fruits and vegetables are the cheapest food category I learnt about the word interest that you have to pay more money when you borrow money.
Oliver P- I enjoyed the escape room the best. There is a credit card and a debit card. A debit card is when you pay with your own money and a credit card is when you pay with someone else's money. You have to pay a lot of money over £1000 for food and electricity each month.
Aisha- I enjoyed the escape room the best. For a family of four you have to pay £2000 to survive with all your needs. I learnt that to buy sugar and fatty food it's more expensive than fruits and vegetables.
Amazon and Kahoot
Y6- I enjoyed going on the IPads on the kahoot quiz to learn about Amazon.
Y5- I loved using the IPads to answer different questions about the hard ware software system.
I learnt that Amazon has robots that deliver all the work. The fastest order was 30 minutes and there are distribution centres in the UK.
Y5- Also, the robot pods aren't all organised. The pods store all the information and the items are distributed all over the warehouse.
Y6- The robots know where they are going by scanning the QR codes which are all around them.
