Oracy in maths is essential to help pupils demonstrate what they know and understand.  Using appropriate maths talk and language shows that children understand mathematical concepts.  Teacher modelling of concepts and children joining in using mathematical language, help to deepen children's understanding.  We adopt the 'I do, we do, you do' approach when introducing new maths learning so children are exposed to maths language.
