Design and Technology

“Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risk, making mistakes and having fun.”  Mary Lou Cook

'Design and technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. They acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art.' National Curriculum 2014

Our aim at Woodside is for Design and Technology to be an inspiring, practical subject.  Using creativity and imagination, pupils will learn to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within different contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, want and values. During their time at Woodside Academy, the children will develop their skills and engage in all of the different skill-based projects; mechanisms, structures, textiles and food.

At Woodside Academy we follow the KAPOW scheme of learning for Design Technology.
